To join Your Choice Federal Credit Union, you must be eligible for membership. Members of the credit union share a “common bond” such as; employed,retired or are a member of one of the companies or organizations in our Field of Membership. Family members, i.e. spouses, (spouses of deceased members), children, siblings, parents, grandparents, grandchildren, (this also includes any step-relatives). Once an immediate family joins then that person’s family is eligible to join. Any person living in the same household can be a member. A member of an organization must have a voting right to the organization.
To help the government fight the funding of terrorism and money laundering activities, Federal law requires all financial institutions to obtain, verify, and record information that identifies each person who opens an account.
When you open an account, we will ask for your name, address, date of birth, and other information that will allow us to identify you. We may also ask to see your driver’s license or photo id and other identifying documents.
Credit Union History
On September 18, 1957, our credit union was chartered. The first name of the credit union was Altoona Bell Federal Credit Union with membership of Bell Telephone employees. In 1965, we merged with Penelec Eastern Division Federal Credit Union. Our name changed to Bell-Penelec Federal Credit Union. We merged with two others unions 1981 F.L. Smithe Employees Federal Credit Union and in 1987 merged with the Altoona City Employees Federal Credit Union. In 2002, we made the decision to change our name to
